Bro's Dog

My brother (our grandfathers are brothers) told me of how he had a dog once when he was still a little boy back in the village(Yaroi, Matuku). It would be the jewel of all his stories for the only reason that his dog tends to think like a human being at times, much to my cautious amazement. It was the incident of a cat that got chased by several dogs in the village that somehow brings to light the extraordinary characteristics of his dog. When I used to listen to the story I thought that it would be leading the chase like the pack leader or something and then it would arouse my curiosity as to why would this dog be praised if it was following from the back, what a weak dog but then he would say hold on they are still chasing the cat and he's a pretty good fighter as well. Okay so the cat runs and climbs this big lemon tree and the the pack of dogs gathers under the tree and hangs around for a long while before giving up and carries on their different routines. Then I ask, where's your dog, he then goes while the rest were barking under the lemon tree his dog circled the tree and laid low obscured from the cats line of sight and the plant he was using as cover, at that moment I was quite amazed at the level of intelligence this dog had, then I asked what happend. He just said the cat jumped right in front of him. So he was hanging back from the pack calculating the cats movement until the right moment to catch it. He said yes. I never asked again when we meet nowadays since we are adults and it would be kind of awkward in our time to discuss it but it always aroused my curiosity as whether this was one of those stories that our grandfathers and their fathers before them would tell in trying to drive a point home. But whatever the truth may be, whenever I would think of it, it somehow become a learning lesson for me. Lay low and wait for the opportune time to seize the moment.

Heres to my bro if he ever happens to stumble by this blog.
